Everything's normal & a little unbalanced

Confuse you yet? Well the "normal" part is the results of all the tests that were done in the last week. We'll get to the 'unbalanced' part in a few minutes. My yearly labs were all normal. - Thanks hubby for all the B12 injections you give me to keep that level normal. I know you secretly enjoy sticking me with that needle. I think you feel some kind of power from being on that side of the syringe.

The mammogram went well. I insisted hubby wait in the lobby with the other hubby's and patients while I got whisked away to change to a nice fluffy white robe and had a hot cappuccino and thumbed through a woman's magazine in a private sitting area. The luxury doesn't last long though before they come and get me. It's not bad though. Unlike most of the females I've compared notes with, it really doesn't hurt. I've heard it's your size that makes the difference. I wonder if that's true. I hear the smaller you are the more it hurts because they have to pull and squeeze harder to get your breast tissue flattened. I have plenty to smash so maybe I am lucky?? Oh yeah! The results this time around were normal! I went through a couple of 6-month re-checks in the last year because of a little 'spot' uncertainty. But we got an all-clear-come-back-in-a-year.

Dr John also ordered an MRI on my lower back. I have had a lot of low back pain for a few years. I don't recall any injury to my back. Well... except that clumsy moment when I slipped on my steps, and bounced down a couple on my butt. I was sore for a few days over that. I thought for sure I broke my tailbone but I never went to the doctor. Anyway, with no known injury Dr John just wanted to make sure all was well. The only thing that showed was Degenerative Disc Disease. Which is still a blessing to be only that. However at only 42 years of age, I need to figure out if you can stop this, reverse it, or at worst at least slow down the degeneration process. I don't have a followup appointment scheduled with Dr John yet but I'll talk with him about it when I go back. He did tell me though after a few mini tests in the exam room that I had a weakness on my right side. I'm not sure why I'd favor just one side but all the little things he did seemed to indicate the same thing. Maybe I need some Physical Therapy. I'd prefer a script for massage therapy though. :)

As far as the "unbalanced" part. My Wii FitPlus goes through a Body Test. A variety of checks, activities and such before the workout and FUN begins to see what your overall status is. And sure enough, my Center of Balance (COB) is a little to the left. Wii says I need to work on my strength training for my right side to improve my COB. I appear to lean a little to the left.

So my goals are to become more balanced and of course continue burning the calories on the Wii as I have for the last week. I'm loving my Wii! I don't watch the clock to see how soon I'll be done. It's definitely some fun working out and I have looked forward to my Wii time every day. And it's not just some little games. I DO break a sweat each time. The more you do the more new levels variations on activities you unlock.

This isn't my video but here is one I found on YouTube of one of the fun calories burning games. The Obstacle Course has me jogging in place and jumping over things. It's just one of several fun activities I have started working out to.

Getting to Know You...

Link up at MannLand to play along and learn more about your Bloggy Friends!

The questions..

1. Would you rather bungee jump or sky dive?
2. When using a public restroom to you squat over the seat or sit?
3. Favorite flower?
4. Pedicure or manicure?
5. How many siblings do you have?
6. Do you pee in the shower? (gasp!)
7. Bikini, tankini, or one piece?
8. Where do you hate to shop at, but go there anyway?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Would you rather bungee jump or sky dive?

NEITHER! I'm terrified of heights! I even have trouble watching movies with "scenes from above"... looking down. My stomach gets butterflies and starts flip-flopping and I sometimes have to look away from the screen. There were quite a few of these moments in Avatar for me. But I loved the movie anyway and can't wait to watch it again! Weird huh? :)

2. When using a public restroom to you squat over the seat or sit?

I use a seat cover if available or wipe it clean. I don't have the perfect balance for squatting unfortunately.

3. Favorite flower?

4. Pedicure or manicure?

Manicure... because I'm very ticklish and can't stand anyone messing with my feet!

5. How many siblings do you have?

I have 2 brothers and a sister older, and one younger sister... 5 of us youngins. :)

6. Do you pee in the shower? (gasp!)

Regularly? NO... I have to say I have a time or two when the urge hit me and I HAD to go NOW! I'm in a position to get clean though... right??

7. Bikini, tankini, or one piece?

One piece... I have too many "mommy marks" left over from pregnancy that I hate looking at myself, let alone exposing anyone else to them.

8. Where do you hate to shop at, but go there anyway?

Grocery store. It's become a household CHORE for me.

Dear Mr Snow...

Dear Mr Snow,

I know we had gone a while without seeing too much of each other in previous winters and it was nice, for a change, to see your beauty again in abundance. But too much of a good thing... is NOT a good thing. Remember the old saying, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." ? I was surprised to come home from my medical tests and find you there again. The time has come for you to go. I'll miss you and enjoy you again next year after I've spent time with the bright sunshine that warms my skin.

Hubby and I spent the afternoon together on my day off. What fun things did we do you ask? I had to have my annual Mammogram @1pm and the doctor set me up for a 3pm MRI on my lower back. Once again we were greeted upon the opening of the elevator doors to the Breast Center. Hubby heard about this before but couldn't quite appreciate it. Goofy man acted like that greeting was his personal invitation to a viewing or something **rolls eyes**. I told him to settle down, he'd just be sitting in the lobby while I went back alone to bear all.

He never attends appointments with me but we hadn't been away from the house together for a while. He's just not been up to it with his health issues. So today was a good day and I talked him into going with me and having a late lunch between the Mammogram and MRI. Both were in the same building, just different floors so we had plenty of time to kill between. Of course if he'd decided NOT to accompany me to Cheddar's for an awesome lunch, I'd have killed time shopping in the mall there.

It was fun to get out of the house together again, even though we had to come home to Mr Snow.

Is it time to change the sheets??

Getting to know YOU

Hosted again this week by Keely at MannLand5
Visit her page and link up to learn more about your bloggy friends.

1. How often do you wash/change your sheets?

Well lately… Every 2-3 weeks... seeing as how we go to bed CLEAN and well, the sheets don’t NEED washed any more often usually and that’s all I’ve got to say about that! LOL (Writes note to check into doggy daycare for a neeyd-puppy break.)

2. When is your birthday?

January 23rd

3. Have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life?

No but there are quite a lot I’d love to meet!

4. Brad Pitt or George Clooney?

George Clooney

5. If you could change one thing about your body what would it be?

My belly that appeared with pregnancy and despite losing weight, it never did quite go back to the pre-pregnancy flatness. On the upside... my Wii Fit Plus is scheduled for deliver tomorrow! Can't wait to work on that belly while having some fun!

6. How often do you wash your hair?

Well, before my recent cut… It was so dry I could go a few days… about 4 or 5, it’s much healthier now with all the dead, dry stuff cut away that I’m finding it’s got to be more often now. Side note: it’s also growing FASTER now. It seems like it was just done a couple weeks ago and the grey roots are yelling out at me every morning in the mirror ALREADY!!

7. Do you have pets?

Two… Our 9 year old, lazy cat, Beanie, and the very active, and very needy baby Chihuahua, Abby.

8. How many social networks do you belong to… if you had to give up one, what would it be?

3 really… I have never deleted my MySpace page (keeping meaning to do that) but I NEVER use it anymore so I don’t count it. Out of Blogger, Facebook and Twitter, I’d drop Twitter. I’m trying to like it but not really feeling it yet.

Link up at MannLand5's MckLinky and share the love some facts about yourself. I'd love to learn some more about you and read your comments.

Supporting Bloggy Friends

This is going to be one BUSY weekend!

Just one of the projects on my list this weekend is to hop around and grab some blog buttons to add to my (finally installed) scrolling sidebar. I have a lot of places I love to visit and wanted to "show you all off". If you have my button on your blog and I haven't grabbed yours yet, leave me a comment and I'll be sure it gets added!

I also need to get my new kitchen pantry cabinet in place and everything organized so when I go grocery shopping this weekend I'll have plenty of organized space to put everything.

And of course I need to get in some Wii activity cause my butt really needs the workout for my fun-time workout.

Somewhere in the middle of these I still need to finish some homework, do some laundry and find some "me" time. Not sure that last one there will find its place but a girl can dream can't she?

I'm still looking for that lazy-day-stay-in-my-jammies-watching movies Saturday I long for but once again it's not gonna be this weekend. Is your weekend a busy one too? Or have you managed to find your lazy-day-Saturday? :)

A Camera Hog and Blogger Award

Oh to have this much energy and spunk all the time!

Abby runs and plays almost non stop. If she catches me with a camera in my hands, she comes running... obviously at high speed. I don't know what it is but I'm under attack with a camera in my hand. I managed to snap this one just before the impact and caught her in mid-jump. What a Ham!

I received another Beautiful Blogger Award from Tina at
The Floundering SAHM. Thank you so much Tina, I'm  honored to receive it.

Seven Things About Me: (now what can I say that you don't already know???)

1. I wanted to be a teacher ALL through school because of my First Grade teacher (Mrs Felty). She made such an impact on me that I wanted to be just like her.
2. Other than #1, my biggest dream as a little girl, for as long as I can remember, was to be a Mom. That is a dream that has come true and I never imagined the joy and love that I'd get from being a Mom!
3. I wanted a dog all my own since I was in elementary school... one that no one could take from me. We grew up in the country and dogs were NOT inside pets. And the first time our dog would start chasing the chickens or ducks, my dad would get rid of the dog. I swore that one day I'd have one that no one could take from me. Another dream come true with Abby.
4. While we're on pets... I have never been a cat person. Never wanted one or even cared to be around any. Until my dad got my son a new kitten when he was about 9 years old. Adam fell in love with it immediately and since he was the only child at home, it was his constant playmate. I've since become so attached to that cat (Beanie) that I've shed many tears when he has been sick and hospitalized at the vet away from home. Amazing how love grows so deeply when you least expect it huh? :)
5. I think sometimes I have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). I get sidetracked from my projects easily and have many going at one time. I'm forgetful beyond belief & depend a LOT on my Outlook (at work) and cell phone alarms and reminders to keep me on track... among other symptoms. Of course I don't have a professional diagnosis but I almost wish I had the Hyperactivity part to go with that, then I might not have trouble losing these pounds I'm working on. ;-)
6. I don't have any grandparents still living. And I really miss them. :( I wasn't ready to say goodbye, there's so much more I wanted to learn from them.
7. My mother and sister are also Best Friends! I cherish any time we get to spend together.

I'm supposed to pass it on to 15 Fantastic Bloggers but that is just SO hard to do! I'm going to cheat and do it my own way. I love it when you stop by and leave a comment with your thoughts, feelings, feedback on something you've read here. So... I pass this Beautiful Blogger Award on to the first 5 Beautiful Bloggers who leave a comment. Take it and enjoy!

My Valentine's Card to You

I hope each of you have a great Valentine's Day and celebrate it in some way with a loved one.
My hubby has been under the weather for a couple of days so since we celebrate each other all year anyway,
I'm going to the movies with some beautiful ladies in my life.
My mother and my 2 sisters are going to the movies & having lunch with me this afternoon.
I'll have to try to get a pic of us all together for you.

Share your own Valentines wishes to your blogger buddies with the Valentine Exchange McLinky.

Valentines Day Memory

I have to ad this disclaimer in advance. I love my husband and remember, I DID brag on him in posting about our 7th Anniversary last monty. It's the little things that matter and mean the most in the long run. That being said...

He is just NOT the mushy, gushy guy. He isn't quite sure what to buy on they popular gifting occasions... Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary, and of course Valentines Day. I have learned in 7 years if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. So aside from a hit and miss card someone reminds him to get card here and there, I take care of myself for those occasions. He leaves the decision to me and honestly, I get the best gifts this way. Over the years I've picked out for myself a new digital camera, a treadmill (something he would have known better than to pick out anyway lol), scrapbook organizing cubes system, jewelry, laptop, and a Wii... just to name a few things.

I have to thank our family Doctor for last year's Valentines card. Hubby had an appointment the day before Valentines Day last year. I go with him to these because A.) he won't tell him something he should, that's where I come in. B.) he can't remember all the things he WANTED to tell the doctor, and C.) he can't remember everything the doctor told HIM to share with me. Hubby is okay with my attendance. I think I only left the room one time on a Dr appointment. I mean, he didn't need ME making sure the urologist performed the prostate exam right, although I was invited by the Dr to stay if I wanted. Nah, there was a great "How to prevent recurring UTI's" article I didn't quite finish in the waiting area, thanks anyway.

I'm rambling aren't I?

So our family doctor (Dr John) is awesome, not only does he feed ME with compliments on all my visits and hubby's (like telling hubby it's good to see his daughter with him today lol), he REALLY listens. You never feel rushed or could even tell he has every exam room and a waiting room full of people to see him. Last year as Dr John finished up, and was shaking hubby's hand before headed out the exam room door, he looked him square in the eye and told him sternly, "Don't forget her tomorrow, you hear?" I had to stop at the super Kroger to get the new scripts filled and hubby said he needed to pick up a couple things while I waited in line at the pharmacy. I finished up and went in search of hubby. I looked in all the aisles I thought he might be in picking up some of his favs... steak at the meat counter, shrimp in the seafood section... no hubby. I walked by the card/gift section on my way to another place he could be and out of the corner of my eye, I saw him squatted down, pulling out cards, reading them and putting them back. He looked for just the right one. I walked on by quietly, not wanting to make a point of him doing what the doctor ordered.

The card was the most perfect one ever. The words were perfect and while there was no chocolates, jewelery or roses attached he expressed things that aren't said in quite that way, nearly enough for most of us. Things that I do for him, that seem taken for granted are pointed out in a wonderful way! And are reminders to me of the many things he does for me that most of my friends cannot say about the men in their lives. I've had the boyfriend who showered me with gifts, had roses delivered to me on a regular basis at my office and seemed like the perfect loving guy to everyone... but me. He never really gave me himself. Although I did find out he gave other women himself. So I remind myself of the material things I had and the things I didn't have and I wouldn't trade them off for nothing. So I'll tell Dr John on Tuesday when I go for my appointment (alone, hubby stays home) that I had the best Valentines Day ever!

Here are a few hearts I made for some of the special people in my life. Make your own here.

Gratitude with Attitude

Instead of my Post It Note Tuesday, I'm doing the Gratitude with Attitude this Tuesday... cause sometimes you need more than a post it to say what you wanna say.

Dear Semi Driver,

Thank you so much for speeding around me this morning as I moved slower in the completely snow covered right hand land on the way to work, and throwing all that DIRTY snow up onto my windshield with your tires. I appreciate you reminding me of the potential danger by covering my entire windshield sot hat I had to come to a complete stop until I had it cleaned off again. I thought though, that I was moving cautiously as it was.

Sincerely,
The SENSIBLE woman driver.

Dear Mr Groundhog,

I know that I said your weather report was fine with me, but seriously... I was only KIDDING when I said I had nothing at all planned for Spring anyway. I don in fact have to get out to work and shop for groceries, and pouring all this snow onto us really isn't helping out with that.

Love,
The Warm Weather Watcher

Dear Beanie,

Thanks for not hacking up your hairball last night in the heavy traffic area in the living room and kitchen. But is it too much to ask that you do that in the utility room close to your litter box where we clean up regularly anyway? Or was it some kind of sick "hide and watch" game for you to leave that massive mucous hair ball right in the middle of my scrap room where my freshly laundered socks could step in and clean that up for you and dry heave the entire time I was cleaning it uip?

Love,
Your Grossed Out Mama

Dear Supervisor,

That was so great of you to text me this morning with allt he rough snow-covered roads and fall sleet to tell me to stay home because the office was closing early anyway. And if you'd done that just 10 minutes earlier, BEFORE I risked life and limb... creeping slowly across a slick bridge and dodging rude semi-truck drivers (see memo #1)... I wouldn't have been able to pick up that nice hot McDonald's breakfast for my hubby and son.

Thanks so much,
The cold, red-nosed Team Coordinator

Below are just a few pictures of my Snow Day today. We went from Snow to sleet, then back to a much heavier, wet snow.

Don't ask me what happened to that date thing. Somehow
the dates are 1 day off on all these but the last one. Weird!

I live just 2 miles from the bridge in the top picture.
By the time I'd driven that distance home, we went
from sleet to this very heavy wet snow.

Want A Blog Make-Over?

Wish you could get a blog makeover by a professional?
There are some GREAT blog designers out there and Diana is one of them of Custom Blog Designs

Diana is celebrating her Blog's birthday and is hosting Giveaway's all month long. This weeks giveaway is a $25 Gift Certificate to spend however you wish on a variety of packages. This would be an awesome prize to win. Head on over to Diana's Custom Blog Designs and get yourself entered. I did! :)

Awarded with Great Bloggy Friends

Give and you shall receive... I have 3 awards from Kari @ p.s. love.love She has a great blog that you really should visit (and follow if you don't already). Like me she has 2 pets, she is all about family, and has been known to blog about her hair. :) Speaking of hair... I received this because I have dark brown hair. (Kari is a rebel and passes on awards in her own way. I like that!)

RULES FOR HAPPY 101 AWARD

List 10 things that make you happy, try to do at least one of them today, and tag 10 bloggers that brighten your day. For those bloggers who get the award, you then link back to my blog and create your "makes you happy" list.

10 Things That Make Me Happy (In no particular order)

1. Hubby’s coffee (and how he brings my first morning cup to me EVERY day)
2. Spending time with my family.
3. Finding quality time with JUST hubby and me (it doesn’t happen often enough)
4. My pets.  Abby (the chihuahua), Beanie (the cat)
5. Blogging
6. Warm weather (I’m done with this winter cold and snow!)
7. Awesome friends.  In real life and my bloggy friends.
8. My foundation in Christ.
9. Completed crafty projects (because I always have several going at a time)
10. My computer (because it connects me to so many wonderful people)
Okay, I’m going to break the rules like Kari did and pass this on the way she did. I had a terrible time picking just 12 people before with the Sunshine Award. I like her way better. So… If you have dark brown hair and follow my blog, I pass this award on to you!
* * * *

Kari’s creativity also brought this Beautiful Blogger award my way because I have an 'I' in my first name.

I'm supposed to tell 7 interesting things about myself and pass this award along to 7 other terrific bloggers!  Hmmm, interesting things about myself?  I guess you may know some of these already, but I’ll give it a shot.
1.  I love to play World of Warcraft with my hubby and son. Most people are surprised to learn this. Evidently I don’t look like a “gamer” to them. But I enjoy the escape from reality when I have time to sit down and log in.
2.  I am going to school full time (while working full time) online through Montana State University. I have a short term and long term goal. First – Certification as Medical Billing Specialist. Once that is complete and I then add and complete the Coding Specialist certification course, I will have my degree.
3.  I love to crawl into cold sheets at night. I am cold natured and the first to get cold everywhere, work and home. But at night it’s somehow, weirdly enough, relaxing to crawl into cold sheets. But of course I want warm blankets on top of them. J
4.  I can't swim.  I can Doggy paddle, float on my back and can swim underwater for just a few short feet but I can't hold my breath for very long so that doesn't work out well either. But I don love playing in the pool. Go figure!
5.  I enjoy rearranging furniture. I don’t do it at home as often as I did before marriage, cause hubby don’t enjoy the change as much as me. But at the office I move things around often for a new look. I have become the rearranging consultant there now when any of the girls want (or need) to move things for a change or to make their areas more organized and productive.
6.  I enjoy soaking in a HOT bubble bath with a good book. I don’t get to often, but that is the one place I don’t get interrupted at. I just have so much going on usually though, that I don’t let myself enjoy this luxury too much because I know there is something I should be doing.
7.  I HATE to wear a coat. I know, crazy statement for this time of year and the snowy weather we've been having (with snow on the ground as we speak). But I hate getting in and out of the car and trying to get comfortable behind the wheel, pulling and positioning my coat under me. I hate having to take it off once I'm in the store (because it's uncomfortable walking around shopping with a winter coat on), then having to bundle back up in when I leave the store, only to repeat the car & steering wheel episode. Only to get too hot in the car with it on, once the heater has warmed up the car. It's just and extra bundle of 'in-my-way'.

Wow! That wasn’t easy. I rarely focus on just me. So again, I’ll use Kari’s idea again, switched up a bit. If you follow my blog (even if you just start now after reading this post) and you have an A in your first name then I pass this Beautiful Blogger award on to you!
 ****
I also received back the Sunshine Award from Kari because she chose to award it to those she has met through Friday Follow.

I followed the rules the first time but since it’s come back to me again, I will cheat and pass it on to anyone who’s joined me through Friday Follow. Because all of you who have chosen to follow me through this great blog hop program have absolutely brought sunshine to my life and I’m thrilled you stop by and read!

Feeling Creative Today

I have been super crafty today. I got some new class kits from Memory Makers delivered. I can't wait to hold the classes for these. I don't think I'll be able to get the Valentine Card classes scheduled to make before the 14th but there are 3 of the 4 that aren't THAT specific that they could not be used for Sweetest Day (Oct 16th this year).

I also made this adorable Pocket of Love. (I'll be giving this to my hubby on the 14th, ssshhh). It was so quick and easy to put together.

I just had to cut and score the cardstock (4 X 10, folded at the 5 1/2" mark) to fold and make the pocket. Just staple the sides together and ink the edges to distress it.

Cut the cardstock strips (10 pieces @ 6 X 3/4 inches) and staple your ribbon strips to the top. Add number and/or letter stickers to to the strips. And write on each one something you love about your hubby, BF, or even your child or best friend. This Pocket of Love can be given to anyone any time of the year!

And the last project completed today was this GORGEOUS Recipe Ring File. This is perfect for a new couple, or single person starting out on their own... Give it to celebrate a new home, new marriage...
even a birthday or Christmas gift. It was fun and easy to do and you can easily add tons more recipe cards buy just punching  a hole and opening the O ring to slip them in. You can fill in a couple of your favorite (perhaps secret) recipes as a starter and let the recipient begin filling in their own favorites.

These recipe cards are printed on both sides to you can even include all the little details to your favorite dishes. Or use the back to jot down another short recipe or any cooking tips. There is a small pocket on the inside front cover with categories that can be adhered to any card to identify the type of recipe it is. I can't get over how cute this and can't wait to get some of my family's favorites jotted down to hang close by my kitchen work area.

These are some super easy and fun card/paper crafts that anyone can do with the included instructions.
So easy I just might have 1 (or more) to GIVE AWAY when I reach 100 followers!

Fill In The Blanks Friday - Friday Follow

Here are this week's Fill In The Blanks

1.  If I had two hours to myself today, I'd soak in a hot bubble bath with a good book.

2.  If I could travel anywhere today, I would go to a cabin in the mountains to get away.

3.  The birth of my son is my happiest memory.

4.  Sometimes you're the dog other times you're the hydrant.

5.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder… and so misunderstood by the media today.

6.  I would be embarrassed if anyone knew some of the regretful decisions I’ve made.

7.  Love at first sight is EXACTLY what happened to me when I met my husband!

It's time again for Friday Follow!
Click the picture above to add your link to the Blog list.
