Black and White Wednesday with Granny

I haven't participated in Black and White Wednesday before today. But I have one of a few pictures I'm using in my Family Tree/Genealogy searching, that will be perfect for a few weeks of Black and White Wednesday. Head over to The Long Road to China to view some more great photography and to link up your own!

I love black and white photography, and I love my Granny! This was taken at her old home place... in the hills of Kentucky... Beauty Ridge (the road I grew up on... 'across the field' from Granny.) It was taken without her knowing while she was looking down the road from her house, holding her poodle, Jill, on her lap. There was always good cookin' around Granny's house, so she always had an apron on. :)

I'm guessing this was taken around 2000. My Granny... Pearl Ann (Stone) Lyons... passed away September 10, 2004. I was living in Oklahoma at the time and was heart broken that I couldn't make it back to Kentucky to attend her funeral.

  1. Am so sorry you weren't able to make it to your Granny's funeral. :( My own grandmother (maternal), who lives in Mississippi, had to have her arm amputated last week due to excessive blood clotting. Sadly, I wasn't able to be there with her. I thank God she made it through the surgery...but emotionally, she's not doing too well. She's my namesake (Her first name, "Cleo", is my middle name). Anyhow, just stopping by through Lisa's B7W Wednesday. :) I have an OLD photo of my husband's grandfather, when he was a little boy, riding in a wagon being pulled by a sheep! From what I understand, that was common in those days. :) God bless. :)

  5. Diana, that is an AMAZING photo. The story it tells. I love it. I also love that you lived across the field from her. What a wonderful heritage. Great choice!
