Getting to Know You Sunday

I love playing along with Keely and her "Getting To Know You Sunday" Meme.
I love to learn more about the people I follow and you get a chance to learn a little more about me.

To play..copy the questions..post them on your blog..than link up at Keely's blog!

1.  Have you ever snooped around someone else's house?

2. Can guys and girls be friends? ( thanks Jen!)

3. Can you curl your tongue?

4. Have you ever stolen anything?

5. Would you rather talk on the phone or text?

6. Memorial Day plans?

7. What do you do to relax?

8. Do you do anything to honor those that have died fighting for our freedom?
------------------------------------------------------------

1. Have you ever snooped around someone else's house?

Snooped? Like going into non-company areas and go through things? No. But I have scanned around a room to take in everything making mental notes. But I do it to try and get ideas myself of something I might want to do at my house as well.

2. Can guys and girls be friends?

If they are truly good moral people then yes. Confused by that answer? Well... I think that it IS possible. If neither are married or committed to a relationship then whatever sparks may occur naturally is no harm and my even be "meant to be". But if either (or both) ARE married or committed to someone else then you have to be careful of a CLOSE friendship with someone of the opposite sex. These are the people that you go to when you need to talk or need advice and sometimes those things involve your significant other and it could cause unnecessary feelings of jealousy (or worse) if you're sharing information, gripes about your hubby with another man (or vice versa).

3. Can you curl your tongue?

Okay I checked in the mirror. I knew that I could do this years ago but it's been so long since I tried, I wasn't sure if I still could. Yes... I can still curl my tongue. :)

4. Have you ever stolen anything?

I have a confession. I have a pen fetish. I have taken pens from the doctor's office... on occasion. Not just every pen I use. But the pharmaceutical sales reps bring loads of some of the coolest pens. I know that we even have some marketers from various places come to our office (Home Health Care & Hospice agency) and leave handfuls of pens as advertisement. It wasn't something we paid for and if they disappear, no big deal. They were free. So I know that those cutesy or unusual pens... and those that just feel good in your hand and write perfectly... were just freebies passed out as advertisement anyway. And after all, that Viagra pen (one of my favorites) is one I might someday in the future want to remember to tell someone about... Right? :)

5. Would you rather talk on the phone or text?

Depends on the person, the subject, what else I'm doing. Normally a text is easier, quicker to just deliver a quick message. The recipient can view and/or reply at their convenience. DH texts me grocery items and I'd prefer that over a call. Sometimes it's just not really the best. You don't catch up with an old friend via text. That is a phone call I enjoy! Sometimes a text can be entertaining. For instance. My mother (love ya mom!) wanted to learn how to text. So I was giving her (by phone) a few quick steps. She was trying it out and I got a couple of completely blank texts. At least she figured out how to send one right? Baby steps :) Then, sitting at my desk at work I get this text that I STILL have in my phone for a chuckle from time to time...

"Lolcantfigureouthowtoseparatethewords"

Gotta love my mother's willingness to embrace the newer technology. My dad on the other hand still drives (half mile) to my house when he gets an AT&T push message, so I can "get that notice off my screen". I've showed him how to delete it, more than once but hey... I guess I can say he needs me. :)

6. Memorial Day plans?

No real plans made. I am on vacation ALL week this week so I have a lot of stuff I want to do around the house. I think we might cook out here at home just our small little family. May have my nephews over. But no real big plans made. I want to enjoy a relaxing day before doing some "Summer cleaning" (because Spring was way to  hectic with work and school both).

7. What do you do to relax?

I don't get to nearly as often as I'd like but I LOVE to soak in a Hot, Hot, Hot bubble bath with a good book. It's relaxing and totally ME time. I have been known to drain out a little water and add more HOT water for a longer soak if I'm not quite ready to get out. :o)

8. Do you do anything to honor those that have died fighting for our freedom?

Not really, I'm ashamed to say. I do think about the soldiers and their sacrifice. I have family who have served our country and can appreciate what they gave. And I have been thinking a lot lately that I'd like to join a group that adopts soldiers to send things to or correspond with, to show my appreciation for what they are doing. There are a couple of places I checked in with before but they never followed through with the plan. Do you or anyone you know participate in something like this?

There's a Troll In The Closet?

Here's a story for you... TRUE STORY!

I've never heard one quite like this before and it's been the source of much laughter at the office today. No, not just by the 40-something females with hot flashes and prescription meds.

Our Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) shared this one with us today at the office. A nurse friend of hers, who works at a local hospital, has a mentally challenged son (we'll call him CB) I'm not sure of his age, I'm just guessing young adult as he is obviously able to be left alone with limited supervision.

CB's mother left for work, expecting the caregiver to arrive and assist CB with fixing something to eat while mom was at work for the evening. After being gone to work for a bit, CB's mother called home to check on him. Following is the conversation between CB and Mom when she called home...

Mom: CB, did the caregiver show up?

CB: No mom.

Mom: Are you doing okay CB?

CB: Yes mom.

Mom: Did you get something to eat?

CB: No mom, but I caught a troll and locked him in the closet.

Mom: You... locked... a troll in the closest?

CB: Yes mom. But it's okay, I fed and watered him.

Mom: You... fed and watered a troll that is locked in the closet???

CB: Yes mom.

Mom: I'll be home in a few minutes.

'Mom' feels like something isn't quite right and felt she should check the situation out. She asks the supervisor, since she had several hours left on her shift, if she could run home and check on CB.

Upon arriving at home, mom asks CB again. "So you have a troll locked in the closet?" CB and mom walked to the closet and upon opening the door mom sees a MIDGET... wrapped in a SHEET... in the closet.

YES... a real, live midget! A US Census worker who'd stopped by the house, after Mom left for work. The "troll" informed Mom, after being released from the sheet he was wrapped in, that CB had thrown Skittles at him and gave him a bowl of water.

Mom had to calm a rather belligerent "troll" and explain to him that her son had never seen a Little Person before and HAD heard stories of trolls. :)

A Sunday Silly...

...inspired by Shell over at Things I Can't Say. Shell shared a silly picture and post of her 3 year old and reminded me of a funny story of my own son when he was not quite 2 years old yet. When Adam was little my mother was my Nanny. You sometimes miss some important things in your child's life when they are little and changing so fast. It can be bittersweet. And you miss some really funny moments sometimes too. I wasn't able to witness this episode but hearing about still makes me smile today. And I know my mom got a good laugh.

We lived in a three bedroom trailer at the time and always kept all the doors closed to limit areas of curiosity from Adam. He could walk the hallways with no danger of getting into anything he shouldn't. So he usually played with his toys in the open living room/kitchen area. One afternoon my mother was watching TV while he played. Suddenly she heard him laughing... one of those deep belly laughs that is contagious to all who hears it.

Mom said she heard some noises beforehand each time and couldn't tell at first what it was but sounded like splashing water. No water was or had been running so I'm sure she brushed that thought aside. After a few deep rolling belly laughs, she went to check on him. The bathroom door must not have been closed all the way. There he stood at the end of the hallway in the bathroom, cup in hand. He was soaked, and every visible part of the bathroom as well. He was caught, scooping cupfuls of water out of the toilet and throwing it straight up, splashing it on the ceiling and the water fell on him and splattered everywhere. His laughter came after each cup of water splashed onto the ceiling and rained down on him. She couldn't help but laugh too.

I guess being thankful for a CLEAN bathroom is an understatement huh?

You can share your own silly stories too at The Blue Zoo. Share the laughter!
